Parker’s securing of the Atlantic bell and its engraving and exhibition (January 5-16, February 12 and 27, 1847); the story of William Hobdell of the ship Sir Robert, having lived among cannibals for nine years (April 20, 1847); a man overboard in front of the Church (June 13, 1847); Rev. Parker’s funeral sermon for the crew of the Auburn, wrecked off Barnegatt, Long Beach on September 25, 1847 (October 10, 1847); Rev. Parker’s sermon delivered to a black congregation at the Church of the Messiah (October 31, 1847); Rev. Parker’s sermon on the wreck of the ship Stephen Whitney, all hands lost on November 17, 1847 (December 19, 1847); Rev. Parker’s visit to William Chase, U.S. Consul at Good Hope to see the first native of Caffraria (South Africa) brought to the U.S. (February 6, 1848); Rev. Parker’s sermon delivered at the Seamen’s Mission Church in Boston (February 14, 1848).
